Tango Unlimited: the name and the site

Is it Tango Unlimited, tangounlimited or unlimited tango?

All of those land here. The site is Tango Unlimited at tangounlimited.org (one word in the address, two in the name). We see every variant typed into search: unlimited tango, tango-unlimited, tango.unlimited, playtango, and misspellings like tango unlimted, unlikited, unlomited, unlimifed, unlimitted, tabgo, tamgo, tangi, toango and tanga. If you typed any of those, you're in the right place: this is the free, independent sun-and-moon puzzle with a daily board and endless practice.

Is Tango Unlimited the same as LinkedIn's Tango?

Same rules, same 6×6 sun-and-moon board, same = and × signs, so Tango players feel at home at once. But Tango Unlimited is an independent, unofficial site with its own puzzles, generated by our engine and never copied from LinkedIn. It is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by LinkedIn Corporation. What we add: unlimited boards in three difficulties, a free archive of every past day, and hints that name the rule.

What is the sun and moon puzzle game called?

The LinkedIn version is called Tango. The older pencil-and-paper form, with 0s and 1s instead of suns and moons, is known as Binairo, Takuzu or Binary Puzzle; Tango adds the = and × signs between cells. People also search for "moon and sun game", "sun and moon logic puzzle" and "infinite tango": they all mean this. The how-to-play page has the rules and five techniques.

Is Tango Unlimited free, and does it work in French or other languages?

Yes, everything is free: the daily puzzle, unlimited mode, the archive and hints, with no account and no download. The site is supported by ads. The interface is in English only for now (we see "jeu tango gratuit" and "tango jeu en ligne" in search; the board itself has no words, so it plays the same in any language).

Who makes Tango Unlimited?

One independent developer in Japan, Ikuhei Kure, who also makes the Tango Unlimited iPhone app (same puzzles, same dates), Poople Unlimited, Krillion Unlimited and the daily puzzles at Puzzlune. More on the about page; questions to [email protected].

Playing Tango Unlimited

When does the daily Tango puzzle change?

At midnight in your local time zone. The daily seed is the calendar date, so everyone in the world gets the same board for the same date, and the iPhone app gets the identical one. Yesterday's board joins the archive once the day has ended everywhere on Earth.

Can I play past Tango puzzles?

Yes. The Tango puzzle archive keeps every daily board since #1 (July 5, 2026), each on its own page with the solved grid and the reasoning behind the first forced cells. Replays don't affect your streak. If you searched for "tango game archive" or "tango archives", that's the page.

What's the difference between the daily and unlimited mode?

The daily is one fixed board a day that tracks your streak. Unlimited generates a fresh board every time you press play, in easy, medium or hard, with no streak and no waiting. Daily boards are medium difficulty.

Do Tango Unlimited puzzles ever need guessing?

No. Every board is generated with exactly one solution and re-solved by a deduction-only solver before it is accepted; a clue stays only if removing it would make the board unsolvable by logic. Across the daily boards so far, none has needed more than the three basic rules (see the strategy guide for the numbers). If you're stuck, press Hint: it names the next forced cell and the rule that forces it.

Why does the hint say a cell is forced when I can't see it?

Most forced cells come from the no-three-in-a-row rule, and the ones people miss are the "sandwich": a gap between two suns can only be a moon, and two suns side by side force moons on both ends. The hint always states the rule; the how-to-play page shows each pattern with an example.

Does it work on my phone, and where is my streak stored?

Yes, the site is built for phones first. Progress and streak are stored in your browser, so clearing site data or switching devices resets them; there are no accounts. Tap a cell to cycle sun, moon, empty; Undo takes a step back; the mistake marker can be switched off if you prefer to find errors yourself.

What happens if I miss a day?

Your streak resets, but the puzzle never disappears: every past daily stays playable in the archive, with its solution.

Getting better at Tango

Are there Tango tips and tricks?

Yes: the Tango strategy guide uses the engine's statistics from every daily board (where boards open, which rule does most of the work, how many forced steps a board needs) and ends with a two-week practice plan. The short version: start at the signs, then hunt the no-three patterns, then count the lines.

How long should a Tango puzzle take?

A medium daily board has about 30 forced steps. Experienced solvers finish in two to four minutes; under a minute is fast. Your time shows on the win screen and in the share card, and the archive marks the days you have completed.
